A model for the evaluation of environmental impact indicators for a sustainable maritime transportation

Lizzette Pérez LESPIER, Suzanna LONG, Tom SHOBERG, Steven CORNS

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2019, Volume 6, Issue 3,   Pages 368-383 doi: 10.1007/s42524-019-0004-9

Abstract: Maritime shipping is considered the most efficient, low-cost means for transporting large quantities of freight over significant distances. However, this process also causes negative environmental and societal impacts. Therefore, environmental sustainability is a pressing issue for maritime shipping management, given the interest in addressing important issues that affect the safety, security, and air and water quality as part of the efficient movement of freight throughout the coasts and waterways and associated port facilities worldwide. In-depth studies of maritime transportation systems (MTS) can be used to identify key environmental impact indicators within the transportation system. This paper develops a tool for decision making in complex environments; this tool will quantify and rank preferred environmental impact indicators within a MTS. Such a model will help decision-makers to achieve the goals of improved environmental sustainability. The model will also provide environmental policy-makers in the shipping industry with an analytical tool that can evaluate tradeoffs within the system and identify possible alternatives to mitigate detrimental effects on the environment.

Analysis and Evaluation of Economic Effect in Electronic Industry in Sichuan

Han Yi,Chen Hong

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 1,   Pages 81-85

Abstract:

Through the analysis model of economic effect and the data of the Sichuan Province input-output from 1987 to 1997, the state of economic effect of telecom manufacturing for 10 years is ahalysed. At the same time, the contribution and effect of telecom manufacturing on Sichuan's national economy are quantitatively and synthetically evaluated. It is found that the effect of Sichuan's telecom manufacturing is changing greatly from former “propelling model” to “driving model”. It proves the necessity of the preferential development of telecom manufacturing, which provides good countermeasure for the development of national economy in Sichuan Province.

The water quality evaluation of the Dalinuoer Lake based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method

Zhang Sheng,Li Changyou,Liang Xizhen,Shi Xiaohong

Strategic Study of CAE 2010, Volume 12, Issue 6,   Pages 28-31

Abstract:

Through investigation and onitoring to urban landscape waters―Shichaqianhai and Roma Lake, water quality and habitat raits of typical landscape waters in Beijing were analyzed. The differences of transparency in wo lakes were discussed. The results show that, transparency of Shichaqianhai arrives at 70 cm, nd that of Roma Lake is 27 cm, which is because of different phosphorous concentration in two andscape waters. Therefore, phosphorous concentration is a key factor to keep aquatic ecosystem ealth in urban landscape waters.

Water-soluble BODIPY and aza-BODIPY dyes: synthetic progress and applications

Gang FAN,Le YANG,Zhijian CHEN

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2014, Volume 8, Issue 4,   Pages 405-417 doi: 10.1007/s11705-014-1445-7

Abstract: In recent years, boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and boron-azadipyrromethene (aza-BODIPY) dyes have attracted considerable multidisciplinary attention due to their diverse applications. By introducing various hydrophilic groups, such as quaternary ammonium, sulfonate or oligo-ethyleneglycol moieties into the BODIPY core, the solubilities of these dyes in aqueous solution can be greatly improved while maintaining their high fluorescence quantum yields. Accordingly, applying these fluorescent dyes in aqueous systems to areas such as chemosensors, biomacromolecule labeling, bio-imaging and photodynamic therapy has been achieved. In this article, the recent progress on the synthesis, optical properties and application of water-soluble BODIPY dyes and aza-BODIPY dyes is reviewed.
